EAST MIDLANDS-based Dice – a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy that operates across the UK – is undergoing a period of strategic growth and has expanded its structural engineering team with a trio of new starters.
Charlie Smith, Jack Simmons, and Nezih Yasdiman have all joined the firm, with existing team member Niall Murray, who joined Dice last year, promoted to senior REVIT technician.
Nezih will act as team leader for the structural engineering element of the business, with Charlie and Jack appointed as senior structural engineer and senior REVIT technician, respectively.
Wayne Oakes, director at Dice, said: “We’re delighted to welcome a further three new team members, as well as announcing a well-deserved promotion for Niall. At this point last year, we only had a couple of people working on the structural side of the business, and these hires are an indicator of the firm’s rapid growth in that time.”
Nezih is an experienced associate structural engineer with a decade of experience in the industry, firstly as an engineer in Turkey and then within the consulting sector after moving to the UK, accruing a vast range of knowledge and expertise.
Charlie has more than five years of engineering consultancy experience, having already been heavily involved in a number of residential and commercial projects, and Jack started his career as an engineering technician before beginning to specialise in REVIT in 2015 and will act as BIM leader on the Dice team.
The changes to the team come off the back of continued rapid growth at the consultancy, boosted by several new projects and client wins in the first half of the year.
Wayne added: “We‘ve had a flying start to the year, despite all the challenges thrown our way by COVID-19. This is 100% down to our brilliant team and our hands-on, client-focused approach. We have the skill, resources, and experience of a large firm but the responsiveness and agility of an SME and this approach has served us well during the pandemic.
“However, our fantastic team are the true heroes, so we place great importance upon staff wellbeing and ensuring they are supported. We also recognise that the industry is suffering from a skills shortage, and it needs to attract new talent. Therefore, the quality of recruits we’ve been able to hire and retain speaks volumes for the company as well as projects and clients we work with, and we’re excited for the next chapter of our growth.”
Having joined Dice as its first REVIT technician in summer 2020, Niall’s skills and wealth of knowledge from more than 12 years of industry experience have seen him promoted to senior REVIT technician in record time.
Niall said: “Working at a customer-focused business such as Dice is a really great opportunity, and it’s been good to continue developing my skill set. Seeing the team continue to grow has been really exciting and it’s been great to continue learning from my fellow structural engineers.
“As well as the projects themselves, it’s the supportive culture that makes Dice such an amazing place to work. Wayne and Raj really champion collaborative working and are passionate about making sure the team is happy – there’s a real sense of team spirit.”
Dice is an East Midlands-based multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy operating nationally. Set up in 2018 by Wayne Oakes and Raj Somal, the firm has an impressive roster of clients spanning across a number of sectors, including student accommodation, PRS, modular, residential, and retail.
