Leading construction firm, The JR Group, has been awarded a contract for the construction of 31 high-specification flats in Carrick Street, Ayr, on behalf of Ayrshire Housing.

Appointed by the association under their framework, the new homes will be located in the heart of the town centre across from the Gaiety Theatre. They will complement the ongoing transformation of the adjacent Kyle Centre into a cinema and leisure hub. The development will comprise 22, one-bedroom flats and nine, two-bedroom flats and is due for completion by Spring 2023.

This is the first time that The JR Group has worked with Ayrshire Housing.

Gary McGregor, Managing Director at The JR Group, said: “It is great to have won the contract to take this exciting new project forward.

“This marks our first project we will deliver for Ayrshire Housing, and we’re delighted to be working together. We look forward to developing a successful working relationship with them.”

Jim Whiston, Director at Ayrshire Housing, said: “This development, designed by Ayr based ARPL Architects will increase the range of housing in the town centre with its focus on accessibility and adaptability. It also supports South Ayrshire Council’s ambitious plans to revitalise the town centre.”

The JR Group employs around 200 staff and was founded in Paisley in 1995. It started as a scaffolding business and is now one of the largest building and construction firms in Scotland.  The business operates throughout Scotland and Northern England working on behalf of a number of the UK’s leading housebuilders, registered social landlords and private clients – it also has recently launched its own private homebuilding division – JR Homes and timber kit division – DC Timber.
