The Copper Sustainability Partnership (CuSP), an association launched to champion the environmental benefits of using copper in the construction and plumbing industries, has welcomed three new members.

The new members will join forces with CuSP in committing to take a stand against the use of plastics in the built environment and promoting copper as the driving force for a better future.

The Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP), EMR Metal Recycling, and Water Kinetics have joined CuSP with a joint vision to promote sustainable construction practices, environmental thinking, and material longevity.

ASBP is a non-profit organisation of over 100 forward-thinking members from the built environment sector, with a mission to ‘lead the transformation to a healthy low-carbon built environment’.

Simon Corbey, Director of ASBP, said: “We are delighted to be joining the Copper Sustainability Partnership and sharing a common goal of increasing the sustainability of the built environment.

“We are working collaboratively with CuSP in our ‘Reducing Plastics in Construction Group’ which brings together stakeholders from across the construction value chain, including major contractors Mace and Morgan Sindall, and we look forward to continuing this strong relationship as we work towards our common goals.”

EMR Metal Recycling is a global leader in sustainable materials, which recycles metals and plastics from a range of public, commercial, and industrial waste streams.

Water Kinetics specialises in bringing innovative change to the plumbing industry and its patented copper piping solution, Eco Duo, is the world’s first single pipe recirculation system that can deliver water in a safe way, whilst delivering up to a 50% cost reduction in energy charges.

Speaking of the new partnerships, Oliver Lawton, Co-founder of CuSP, said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming three likeminded organisations to CuSP and are looking forward to collaborating with them to make a forceful stand against plastic use in our industry.

“While each organisation brings a different expertise, our values align with the shared vision to improve the environmental footprint and sustainability of the construction and plumbing industry.”
